Dhamra Port Marks World Environment Day with 1,000 saplings
Dhamra, 05.06.2026: On the occasion of World Environment Day – 5th June 2026, Dhamra Port marked the day with a series of impactful activities under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” The Environment & Horticulture Department led an inspiring week-long observance aimed at sensitizing children, employees, workers, and residents towards environmental stewardship.
The celebrations featured a diverse range of engagement-driven activities. Spot quizzes were conducted for site workers, while employees participated in quiz competitions to enhance awareness on environmental issues. Children enthusiastically took part in drawing competitions and quizzes, showcasing their creativity and understanding of nature conservation. Rally campaigns with environmental slogans were organized to spread awareness among the workforce, and a Waste Collection Camp was conducted within the port colony to promote cleanliness and responsible waste management.
The highlight of the programme on 5th June was a Mass Plantation Drive, during which nearly 1,000 saplings were planted across the port premises by employees and workers, symbolizing a collective commitment to greening the ecosystem. In line with sustainable practices, eco-friendly jute bags were also distributed to employees to encourage reduction in plastic usage.
The celebrations culminated with an inspiring address by the CEO, who emphasized the urgent need for climate action and encouraged all stakeholders to adopt renewable energy sources and sustainable practices. He reiterated Dhamra Port’s unwavering commitment to environmental conservation and building a greener, more sustainable future.
