Bhubaneswar, July 03, 2026 – Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms launched a comprehensive, state-wide initiative to mark ‘Electrical Safety Week 2026′ (June 26 – July 2, 2026). This week-long campaign underscored the Discoms’ unwavering commitment to reinforcing a ‘zero-harm’ environment and advancing the safety ecosystem for millions of consumers across the state.

Aligning seamlessly with the vision of the Energy Department, Government of Odisha, Odisha Discoms actively drove public awareness under the central theme: “Today’s Awareness, Tomorrow’s Prevention.” The safety week served as a critical bridge between corporate governance and public welfare, amplifying governmental advisories regarding life-saving measures like installing Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs), using certified ISI-marked electrical equipment, avoiding overloaded sockets, and maintaining safe protocols during severe weather hazards like lightning and thunderstorms.

Key State-Wide Initiatives Undertaken for Safety & Awareness:

* Aligning with State Safety Directives: Actively disseminating real-time public advisories across leading dailies and social platforms, echoing the core safety principles and emergency protocols illustrated by the Energy Department, Government of Odisha.

* Structured Internal Governance & Training: Conducting comprehensive electrical safety training sessions and internal communications for employees and business associates to strictly enforce compliance, safety standards, and proactive risk mitigation.

* On-Ground Leadership & Rigorous Audits: Organizing leadership walk-downs at the circle level to directly engage with field teams, alongside unannounced surprise inspections. This includes conducting detailed electrical safety audits androutine health check-ups of electrical systems to ensure optimal infrastructure performance and total compliance during maintenance operations.

* Grassroots Community Outreach & Rallies: Staging engaging Nukkad Nataks (street plays) at the division level to communicate vital safety messages to local communities, complemented by public awareness rallies to visibly drive the message of electrical safety into the heart of neighbourhoods.

* Educating Future Generations: Hosting dedicated awareness programs at schools and other educational institutions for students, alongside organizing consumer awareness meets to cultivate safety consciousness early at the community level.

* Fostering Safety Innovation & Inclusivity: Organizing internal safety competitions and various engagement competitions for employees and their families, as well as business associate officials, to spark innovative ideas, build community, and share knowledge on improving ground-level electrical safety.
