Neelachal Ispat Nigam Conducts Full-Scale Emergency Mock Drill to Enhance Safety Preparedness
Kalinganagar, September 22, 2026: Neelachal Ispat Nigam (NINL) successfully conducted a full-scale on-site emergency mock drill at its Kalinganagar plant to assess and strengthen its emergency response and industrial safety preparedness.
The exercise simulated a liquid oxygen leak from the main header of the liquid oxygen tank at the Oxygen Plant, Utilities, and Power System.
The drill was conducted under the guidance of Mr Umesh Chandra Sutar, Deputy Director of Factories and Boilers, Jajpur Zone; Mr Debasis Nayak, Assistant Director of Factories & Boiler, Jajpur Zone; Mr Ramesh Chandra Behera, Sub- Inspector, Kalinganagar Police Station; and Mr Ajit Kumar Rout, Fire Officer, Danagadi, along with NINL’s safety team.
The primary objective was to evaluate the plant’s preparedness for high-risk scenarios and ensure effective coordination among emergency response teams. The drill provided an opportunity to validate response times, equipment readiness, and communication systems while reinforcing NINL’s commitment to employee safety, risk management, and operational excellence.
Through such exercises, NINL continues to strengthen its safety culture and emergency preparedness across its operations.
