TPWODL Strengthens Festive Readiness across Western Odisha, Urges Safe Power Practices

Burla, October 07, 2026: Ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations and the festive season, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has strengthened its power and safety preparedness across its revenue area to ensure reliable electricity supply and safe electrical arrangements during the period. With increased demand, large gatherings, and temporary electrical installations expected during the festivities, the company has undertaken extensive preventive maintenance, network strengthening and field-level safety measures.

Preventive maintenance has been completed for 2,635 distribution transformers of 100 kVA and above, while 52 protective installations have been put in place. Thermal inspections identified 1,296 hotspots, all of which have been attended to, while 24 distribution transformers were upgraded or strengthened. A dedicated vegetation-clearance drive covered 34,257 line stretches, with creepers removed from 2,436 distribution locations and 1,876 poles. Network improvement works have also included strengthening of nearly 3 ckm of 11 kV and 4 ckm of 33 kV lines, conversion of nearly 28 km of lines to covered conductors, construction of nearly 20 km of new low-voltage lines, and installation of two 63 kVA transformers and a power-management unit in Rourkela Town.

TPWODL has advised Puja committees to obtain authorised temporary electricity connections through the prescribed process, based on their actual load requirements, and to apply well in advance. TPWODL has urged consumers and visitors not to touch damaged, exposed, fallen or sparking wires or electrical equipment. Any unsafe electrical condition should be reported immediately through the company’s 24×7 Customer Care numbers at 1912 or 1800-2028, or at the nearest electricity office. The company said it remains committed to maintaining safe, reliable and quality power supply across Western Odisha during the festive season, with continued coordination with Puja committees, local administrations and other stakeholders.
