CBC, Bhubaneswar organizes Integrated Communication Outreach Program on ‘Mission LiFE’ “Sustainable Solutions for a Greener Future”

Bhubaneswar, prabaha tv : The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, in association with Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), Deemed to be University, conducted an Integrated Communication Outreach Program on ‘Mission LiFE’ at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, SOA, Bhubaneswar.

Presided over by Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, the event emphasized the importance of sustainable living practices in addressing climate change and promoting environmental responsibility, reflecting the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of inspiring individuals to become ‘Pro-Planet People.’

The chief guest of the event, Shri T.V.K. Reddy, Director General (East Zone), Kolkata, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, emphasized the crucial role of agricultural students in driving environmental innovations. He stated, “The environment is vital for our sustainability. Students, particularly those from agricultural disciplines, have the potential to develop eco-friendly solutions that positively impact both society and the planet.”

In his keynote address, Sri Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General, CBC & Press Information Bureau, Bhubaneswar, emphasized, “The Honourable Prime Minister’s approach to driving transformative change through simple, environmentally conscious actions can significantly alter the trajectory of our future. Small steps in our daily lives, such as reducing plastic use and adopting renewable energy, can have far-reaching benefits.”

Dr. Girish Chandra Dash, Director, CBC, Bhubaneswar, further stressed the need for a lifestyle shift: “Mission LiFE calls for adopting sustainable practices as a new standard. Eco-friendly measures, such as transitioning to e-vehicles and using solar energy, should become integral to our way of life.”

Mission LiFE, first proposed at CoP26, serves as a global call to action, with over 200 nations acknowledging the urgent need to address climate change. Prof. Nanda highlighted its importance, stating, “This initiative encourages us to wake up to the reality of environmental degradation and act decisively to preserve our planet.”

Prof. Santosh Kumar Rout, Dean, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, SOA, added that students could act as change-makers, advocating for a plastic and e-waste-free world. He announced plans to make IAS a plastic-free institute, setting an example for others.

The event featured a captivating Gotipua dance performance by CBC-registered artists, reflecting Odisha’s cultural heritage and its connection to environmental themes. To mark the occasion, saplings were planted by Shri Reddy and Prof. Nanda, under Eek Ped Maa Ke Naam Campaign symbolizing a commitment to greener practices. Dignitaries felicitated the winners of multiple competitions organized on the theme of Mission Life.

The program, attended by students, faculty, and other dignitaries, concluded with a renewed pledge to advance the principles of Mission LiFE, fostering sustainable development for a better future.
