Hanuman Jayanti Violence: VHP, Bajrang Dal Call For 12-Hour Bargarh Bandh Tomorrow
Bargarh: Following the recent attack on a faction of people during Hanuman Jayanti bike rally in Sambalpur, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal today called for a 12-hour Bandh of Bargarh town on Wednesday, opposing the act. The call was later supported by local unit of Hindu Mahasabha.
Accordingly, all business establishments, marketplaces, shops, government & private offices and schools & colleges in the town will remain closed from 6 AM to 6 PM tomorrow. Vehicular movements will be completely halted except the ones providing emergency services, a spokesperson of VHP stated.
Residents of Bargarh town should come forward and support the call, the VHP leader appealed.
The 12-hour bandh will be observed peacefully and a bike rally will be organised in Bargarh town later today to garner people’s support in this regard. “It will be a complete ceasure,” the leader added.
In another incident today, Sambalpur administration extended the ceasure of internet services. Keeping in mind the probability of its misuse, the prohibition will remain in force till 10 AM tomorrow. The total number of arrests in connection with the earlier violence in Sambalpur has reached 85.
It is pertinent to mention, stones were pelted by a rival faction during the religious procession.
Sambalpur administration had previously sealed the district borders including the ones with Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul and Subarnapur. Internet services were stopped and curfew was clamped to bring the deteriorated law and order situation under control and bring back normalcy.
