Mamata Winds Up Odisha Visit, Takes Home Bouquet Of Gifts Including ‘Chhenapoda’
Bhubaneswar: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence in the capital city here before winding up her three-day tour to Odisha.
Patnaik welcomed Banerjee by presenting an ‘Anga Vastra’ of Lord Jagannath to her. Patnaik also gifted replicas of three chariots of Srimandir deities to the visiting leader, sources said.
The Odisha Chief Minister also presented a filigree work, Indian hockey team jersey and Chhenapoda, a sweet dish, to his West Bengal counterpart.
The West Bengal Chief Minister presented a specially-made shawl to Patnaik. The shawl has been prepared by Biswa Bangla, sources said.
Banerjee paid her tributes to former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik and his wife Gyan Patnaik by presenting a ZAMDANI sari before their portraits.
Banerjee thanked Patnaik and officials of the Odisha government for their warm gesture.
“Banerjee is constructing a Jagannath temple at Digha in West Bengal. She has invited Odisha Chief Minister to be part of the temple committee. The West Bengal Chief Minister also thanked Patnaik for providing 2 acres of land in Puri for construction of a guest house for Bengali devotees,” said a source.
The West Bengal Chief Minister had visited Jagannath temple in Puri yesterday and pay obeisance to the sibling deities.
