NEW PPA DEPUTY CHAIRMAN SHRI NILABHRA DASGUPTA ASSUMES CHARGE

Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta assumed the charge of Deputy Chairman, PPA today. He is an Indian Revenue Service Officer of 2008 batch. He has a Masters in Linguistics from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi and was pursuing a Direct PhD when he cracked the prestigious Civil Services examination in his very first attempt. He also has an LLB degree from Gujarat University and has completed his LLM. After assuming the office as Dy. Chairman, PPA, he said that his priority will be taking PPA to greater heights in coming years and also to create and maintain a congenial atmosphere in the local Port Community, so that it will fuel further growth and development of the Port.   During his more than 13 years of service, he has handled multiple large and sensitive positions in tax-policy administration and management. He possesses work experience in a diverse portfolio of assignments covering the areas of Administration, Enforcement, Vigilance, Infrastructure, Corporate and International Taxation. He has a deep experience of working in a highly unionized set-up with an ability to work in close coordination with the Unions while ensuring that all the key result areas and organizational objectives are achieved. He has significant experience in project implementation in the infrastructure space and was also awarded certificate of merit for his services in preparing a Litigation Management Software to process litigation data and monitor litigation deadlines. His long tenure in the field of International Taxation, Transfer Pricing and Corporate Assessment has equipped him to work in an ITeS enabled environment and strict time-barring schedules.

             In his last assignment as the Additional Director (Investigation), IT Department, Ahmedabad, he has planned and supervised multiple sensitive and large scale enforcement actions which involve effective coordination with numerous other agencies and processing of huge amounts of data which is both secret and time sensitive and requires a skill-set to deal with immediate crises situations requiring quick planning, extremely low turn-around times and very high-risk outcomes in a high pressure environment. During his tenure in the Investigation Wing he was successful in effecting one of the largest cumulative cash seizures ever in the Gujarat region. He has also handled numerous additional responsibilities such as Nodal officer(Surveillance), Nodal officer (Election Expenditure Monitoring, Gujarat state),Nodal officer (Subsidiary Multi Agency Centre), Nodal officer (REIC & CEIB), Nodal officer (NDPSA-SAFEMA), which has enabled him to handle multiple sensitive portfolios across a wide spectrum of varied responsibilities simultaneously.
