NTPC-Darlipali Conducts Public Hearing for Stage-II Expansion
NTPC Darlipali conducted Public Hearing for stage-II expansion on Tuesday, 22nd October, 2024. The hearing, organized at Mundadhipa Football ground, Tileimal in Jharsuguda district, witnessed huge participation from the villagers residing in the vicinity.
Chaired by ADM (Revenue), Jharsuguda and Regional Officer, SPCB, Jharsuguda and attended by senior officials from the SPCB, public administration, and NTPC Darlipali, the hearing cleared the queries of villagers around the upcoming project and informed them on how this expansion will promote overall development in the region and raise employment opportunities by providing jobs to over 2000 local youths.
Efficiently fulfilling the power needs of Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Sikkim & Gujarat with its 2×800 MW functioning units at present, the company is planning to further expand its power generation capacity by commissioning another unit of 1×800 MW.
NTPC Darlipali has brought immense improvement into the lives of people with its string of meticulously planned Community Development initiatives. Girl Empowerment Mission, Utkarsh Scholarship, Health Check-up Camps, Medical Mobile Units covering 34 nearby villages, 2-Yr ITI programme through CIPET, assistive devices for the differently-abled through ALIMCO and Strategic Disbursal of Essentials to the Needy have been the bedrock of the company’s social responsibility.
Aligning with its motive of promoting the overall development of health and education levels in the society, the power company has also developed Medical College & Hospital, and Govt Polytechnic College with a combined outlay of around ₹ 450 crores as a part of its big-ticket CSR activities in the Sundargarh district. Project expansion in Jharsuguda district, besides fulfilling energy needs, will also open the way for similar mega developments in the region.
