Smuggling of soil from land near Berhampura RI

Betanati : There is smuggling of billions of rupees of government revenue from the sand khadans under the Betanetti and Ladsahi tehsils of Mayurbhanj district and clay sand from the government land in Moram valley under the guidance of revenue department employees. Since last year 2022, the illegal smuggling of all kinds of minor mineral products has been going on more and more because the main canal and branch canal work under Betanti and Baripada tehsils of Subarnarekha irrigation project is going on. For the past few days, the villagers of Haldipada Rajswa village under Betanti tehsil under Brahampura revenue circle have complained that JCB has been planted from the adjoining land and the soil has been dug up and the soil is being dumped in the Subaranarekha canal project in tractors and dumpers. Even though the tehsildar was informed about the payment by the villagers, he did not investigate and instead of taking any action, he instead told the complainants to inform the police. Although minor minerals have been entrusted to the district mining officer, the tehsildar asked the police to file a complaint without asking the mining department to add the supply. Even though it was under the Brahmapura Rajaswa Circle, it was not possible to connect with him. Villagers have complained that Dhuma Marni, father of Narayan Marni of Khaldipada village, is in possession of the land from which the soil is excavated and the soil is going to the Suarnarekha canal. If the land is not excavated from the government land and the cultivation is not stopped, then the usurper will turn this land into an agricultural land and put up a fence and cultivate paddy. As a result, the people of the village will no longer have open land to graze their cattle. Sand mafia was picking up sand day and night with hundreds of dumpers and tractors from different sand ghats inside Betanti city and running sand on the roads in front of tehsils and police stations. As a result of which the government is losing lakhs of rupees in revenue, there is no sign of action being taken. Therefore, the District Collector has been demanded to immediately order the mining department to take action. Of course the mining department office is not here nor is anyone stationed under the tehsil.
