Vedanta Aluminium Champions ‘Safety & Well-being for Viksit Bharat’ during 54th National Safety Week

Bhubaneswar,prabaha news : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, observed the 54th National Safety Week across its operations with a series of impactful initiatives aimed at reinforcing the culture of safety and well-being. Aligned with this year’s national theme – ‘Safety & Well-being Crucial for Viksit Bharat’– the company organised comprehensive engagement programs at its aluminium smelter in Jharsuguda, alumina refinery in Lanjigarh, and various other mining locations in Odisha, fostering a sense of shared responsibility towards safety across employees, business partners, and the local community.

  • At Jharsuguda, the celebrations commenced with a flag hoisting and a spirited safety rally, drawing participation from over 780 employees. The unit launched its Annual Safety Magazine 2025 and hosted a series of interactive activities including a live debate on safety topics, ‘Safety on Wheels’ campaign across plant areas, a safety model exhibition, a personal protective equipment (PPE) demonstration by vendors, and competitions like incident investigation. The initiative reached beyond the plant to engage 427 township residents and schoolchildren through community awareness drives and a vibrant drawing competition, highlighting the company’s commitment to proactive safety culture.
  • At Lanjigarh, a safety pledge and flag hoisting was organised to mark the occasion. The celebrations featured a compelling Nukkad Natak performance, safety model exhibition by business partners, and emergency preparedness drills. Community awareness sessions engaged over 200 local residents, reinforcing safety not just as a workplace value but a way of life.
  • Jamkhani Coal Mine also marked the occasion with initiatives involving the employees, such as poster and quiz competitions, pit safety committee meetings, and an electrical safety training. With over 200 participants, the initiative spotlighted the mine’s focus on embedding safety across all operational and stakeholder interactions.
