Vedanta Aluminium Partners with Odisha Police to Drive Cyber security Awareness in Jharsuguda
Jharsuguda, prabaha news : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, in collaboration with Odisha Police hosted a session of thestate government’s‘Cyber Security Awareness Campaign – Odisha 2025’ at its operations in Jharsuguda. The event aimed to promote wider awareness of safe digital practices under the theme ‘Stop. Verify. Be Secure’. The initiative focuses on prevention-first awareness against online frauds and empowers citizens to protect themselves against the menace of cybercrimes.
The event witnessed the presence of several eminent guests from Odisha Police – Jharsuguda, including G.R. Raghvendra, IPS,Superintendent of Police;Madhusmita Mishra,Additional SP;James Samad,Additional SP;Jyotsnamayi Pradhan;DSP;Uma Shankar Singh,SDPO;and Rajendra Sial, DSP, Badmal,alongside employees of Vedanta and its business partners, and township residents. Together, they reaffirmed their commitment to making Jharsuguda a digitally aware and cyber-secure district.
In a digital age where technology drives both opportunity and risk, the campaign highlighted the importance of informed vigilance. Through informative videos and interactive sessions, experts from Odisha Police explained how individuals can identify and avoid common online threats such as phishing, OTP/QR scams, remote access apps, deepfake manipulation, identity theft and financial malware. Attendees were also introduced to digital best practices for online transactions, secure password management and responsible social media behavior.
In addition, the participants were introduced to the ‘Cyber-Rath’ -a mobile awareness van that is being rolled out across Odisha to bring cyber security messaging directly into rural and semi-urban neighborhoods. The Cyber Rath is an on-wheels outreach unit of the government’s month-long awareness drive, set to travel district-to-district, engaging citizens through street plays, film screenings and interactive kiosks.
Speaking at the event, C Chandru, CEO, VedantaJharsuguda, said, “At Vedanta, safety extends beyond our plants and into our digital lives. Adding his views, GR Raghvendra IPS, Superintendent of Police, Jharsuguda said, “The rise in cybercrime cases is not just a law enforcement issue but a social challenge. Campaigns like this will help build a culture for ‘Stop. Verify. Be Secure’, a habit that can prevent most cyber offences before they occur. It is our endeavour to educate and enable people to act responsibly online.” In his address, he shared several simple steps that citizens could take to protect themselves against cybercrimes, while also highlighting the various platforms available to report and address incidents, while also commending Vedanta’s support in taking forward the initiative.
