4th Edition of Odisha Naval Tata U-14 Boys Hockey Grassroot Championship 2025, Kicks Off at Rourkela
Rourkela, prabaha news : The 4th Edition of the Odisha Naval Tata U-14 Boys Hockey Grassroot Championship 2025 kicked off with an energetic opening ceremony at the iconic Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
Organised by the Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre (ONTHHPC) in partnership with the Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, the championship has drawn 35 teams and over 350 young players from Hockey Training Centres (HTCs) and Grassroot Centres (GRs) across the state. The tournament runs from October 29 to November 8, 2025, concluding with a grand finale at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium.
The tournament was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests, including Sudipta Kumar Nayak, Deputy Director (Sports), Government of Odisha (Chief Guest); Peter Soreng, Hockey Coach, Panposh (Government of Odisha); and Kalu Charan Choudhury, Senior Hockey Coach.
In his address, Mr. Nayak lauded the initiative for nurturing grassroots talent and emphasised the importance of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance in sports. The ceremony concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem, marking a moment of pride and unity for all participants.


This year’s edition features eight pools (A–H), with teams from across Odisha and one from Jharkhand competing for the championship. Matches are being held daily on both pitches of the stadium, starting at 6:30 AM. The top teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final on November 8.
The tournament will conclude on November 8, 2025, with the final match and closing ceremony to crown the champions of the 4th Edition of the Odisha Naval Tata U-14 Boys Hockey Grassroot Championship.
The championship serves as a key platform to identify and nurture young talents with the potential to represent Odisha and India at higher levels of the sport.
