DIPA Annual Flagship Event 2022 Held
New Delhi,16 September, 2022: Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA), an apex industry body representing Digital Infrastructure providers industry in India held its Annual Flagship Event in physical edition in New Delhi.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister For Communications, Electronics & Information Technology And Railways, GOI was the Chief Guest of the event and Shri Devusinh Chauhan, Hon’ble Minister Of State For Communications, GOI was the Guest of Honour of DIPA Annual Flagship Event 2022. The theme of this year’s Annual Flagship Event was” Gati Shakti Vision For 5G & Beyond”.
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister For Communications, Electronics & Information Technology And Railways, GOI, said,” Telecom service quality norms may get tighter and assured the sector of more reforms in the offing but asserted that the industry too would have to do its bit and reciprocate by improving service quality “significantly”. I will be requesting Department [Telecom Department] to send a new consultation paper to TRAI for significantly increasing the quality of service parameters almost making it 3x or 4x of what it is today,” Mr. Vaishnaw said at an event organised by the Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA).
Guest of Honour Of Event Shri Devusinh Chauhan, Minister Of State For Communications, said,” The touchstone of the Gati Shakti Master Plan will be world- class modern infrastructure and logistics synergy among different modes of movement – both of people and goods – and location of projects. Digital connectivity will be vital for achievement of its goals. Once the vision of 5G in India is realised, it will drive digital revolution in India, transforming the productivity, experiences and aspirations of its citizens. Further, Initiatives like Digital India and industry-friendly policies are some of the key initiatives winning the confidence of investors and consumer. The Government and Private enterprises need to work in tandem to build new digital ecosystems that can create a deep-rooted impact on the lives of billions of Indians.”
Mr. Akhil Gupta, Chairman, DIPA while speaking at the event said,” We all know the importance of 5G for making Digital India a reality going forward and the immense potential that it has. 5G is bound to usher in a new era in internet speeds leading to possibilities of new applications and use cases which could be very significant going forward. I have no doubt that with the rapid proliferation of 5G, there will be big opportunities for new direct and indirect employments – particularly in the hinterlands and the rural areas. The portal which has been recently launched will undoubtedly be a game changer in providing coordination and alignment between the various agencies for ensuring timely approvals.”
Speaking at the occasion, , Mr.T.R. Dua, Director-General, DIPA, said,” Infrastructure is crucial to the development of any economy. Roads, railways, airways, and waterways enable connectivity with the outside world, facilitate trade and bring prosperity to the region. Advanced modes of transportation allow faster movement of goods and services. Improved connectivity helps in marketing as well as transporting products from the place of production to the market. Advanced infrastructure facilities have also enabled the creation of complex global supply chains. In economics terminology, infrastructure has a high multiplier effect. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy estimate the multiplier to be between 2.5 and 3.5. We at DIPA are proud to host our Flagship event in the backdrop of dynamic enabling policies of the government and regulator during the past one year. These path breaking policy changes have brought the nation at the cusp of launching 5G services in the country and making the citizens utilise the benefits of state of art technology.”
During the event, EY-DIPA White paper titled ‘ GatiShakti — paving the way for an accelerated digital infrastructure rollout in India’ was also unveiled. The paper focuses on the fact that the advent of 5G is going to be a game changer for India and is likely to have a profound impact on the socio-economic fabric. 5G is expected to lead to a surge in data traffic, which will necessitate upgrading existing networks and build new Greenfield ones. with a key focus on the future of trends in telecommunication industry.
