Observance of World Pollution Prevention week at Paradip Port Authority

Observance of World Pollution Prevention week today kicked off at Paradip Port Authority with a Mock Drill on Oil Pollution Prevention was conducted under the supervision of Capt. AC Sahoo, Dy. Conservator and other senior operational staff of the Marine Department.

In order to make the student community aware about Green Shipping, Cadets & Staff of Orissa Maritime Academy were also among the participants. First of all the cadets of Orissa Maritime Academy were taught about different types of Pollutions.

Then, the students were imparted knowledge  about different types of Oil Pollutions like Tier-I, Tier-II etc. and their prevention. The students then were shown different types of Oil Spill Response Equipment like Oil Containment Booms, Skimmers, Boom Reels, OSDs, Fast Tanks, Sorbent Pads etc.   Finally, a Mock Drill was carried out on Oil Pollution Prevention on Oil Spill Response vessel MT Ocean Elegance and Pollution Control Vessel ML KALI.
