Odisha Announces Bonus, Allowance For Kendu Leaf Pluckers
Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards the welfare of kendu leaf pluckers in Odisha, the State Government today announced bonus and allowance for them.
As per the decision, an amount of Rs 12o crore has been sanctioned by the government towards the bonus and allowance for the kendu leaf pluckers.
The move will benefit around 8 lakh kendu leaf pluckers and seasonal staff associated with the work.
The State Government has been spending the profit amount of the kendu leaf business for the welfare of the pluckers.
The government today also took the decision of increasing the price for kendu leaf collection in both process and fall areas for the year 2022.
It will benefit around 7.50 lakh kendu leaf pluckers with additional income of Rs 240 crore.
