Secretary, Ministry of Coal visits MCL
Sambalpur, September 30, 2022: Dr. Anil Kumar Jain, Secretary(Coal) and Ms. Vismita Tej, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal visited different areas of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) today.
After arrival on 29th September, Dr Jain chaired a review meeting at MCL headquarters in Sambalpur along with Joint Secretary which was attended by Shri O P Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Shri Keshav Rao, Director (Personnel), Shri P K Patel, Chief Vigilance Officer, Shri J K Borah, Director (Technical/ P&P), Shri A K Behura, Director (Finance), Area GMs and HoDs of MCL HQ.
He appreceated team MCL for positive growth over target in all three parameters viz production, Despatch and Overburden Removal.
On day two of the visit, Dr Jain visited Ib Valley Coalfields for inspection of mining operations at Basundhara, Lakhanpur and Ib Valley Area. He was accompanied by CMD, Director (Personnel) and Director (Technical/ P&P) of MCL.
Dr Jain inspected the operations of Garjanbahal and Kulda Open Cast Projects (OCPs) and reviewed upcoming 50 MTPA Siarmal OCP where he advised that Siarmal should produce more than the targeted Coal for FY 2022-23. He also inspected the despatch operations of Sardega siding and upcoming 20 MTPA Rapid Loading System under Basundhara Area.
Under the CSR initiative of MCL Basundhara Area, Tricycles were distributed by Dr. Jain to Divyang persons in Basundhara Area.
After arriving at Lakhanpur Area, he chaired the meeting with Railway officials where he emphasized for all possible support by Railway for enhancing despatch of Coal considering the increased demand from power sector. Dr Jain also inspected mining and despatch operation at Lakhanpur OCP and siding.
MCL contributes about 25 percent to the total coal production of Coal India.
