Solar Rath Initiative Reaches Khordha, Taking Rooftop Solar Awareness to Every Doorstep

Bhubaneswar, August 04, 2026: TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, flagged off Solar Rath from the Office of the District Collector, Khordha, to spread awareness and promote the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and encourage the adoption of rooftop solar systems. The Solar Rath was flagged off by Sri Pratap Chandra Beura, Additional District Magistrate-cum-District Consumer Protection Officer, Khordha and Sri Jyoti Sankar Sahu, CDO-cum-Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Khordha, in the presence of TPCODL officials. The Solar Rath vehicle will move across Khordha district to educate consumers about the benefits of rooftop solar, available subsidies and the installation process. The trained Solar Sanga is accompanying the Solar Rath to engage with households, address consumer queries and promote the adoption of clean and affordable solar energy. Speaking on this initiative Sri Pratap Chandra Beura said, “The Solar Rath campaign will play a pivotal role in spreading awareness about rooftop solar and encouraging more households to avail benefit from the PM Surya Ghar:

Muft Bijli Yojana. Khordha, the first district in Odisha to surpass 10,000 rooftop solar installations, has set a benchmark for clean energy adoption, and this initiative is expected to further accelerate installations and strengthen the district’s leadership in the state’s solar transition.” Sri Jyoti Sankar Sahu said, “The Solar Rath campaign will help spread awareness about rooftop solar and encourage more households to benefit from the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Through this initiative, the Solar Rath will reach Gram Panchayats and Blocks across the district to create greater awareness and further increase rooftop solar adoption” Speaking on the occasion of the flag-off of the Solar Rath campaign, Gajanan S. Kale, CEO, TPCODL, said, “The Solar Rath campaign is bringing information and awareness directly to consumers, enabling them to take informed decisions about rooftop solar. Through sustained outreach under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, we aim to accelerate clean energy adoption and empower more households to benefit from affordable and sustainable electricity.” TPCODL continues to undertake extensive awareness initiatives across its operational areas to encourage greater participation in the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and support Odisha’s transition towards a greener and more sustainable energy future.
