Subarnarekha Port Organizes Training Program in Applique Art in Baliapal

Organised with support of Tata Steel Foundation for women SHG members

Baliapal, January 19, 2023: Subarnrekha Port’s commitment to women’s empowerment has been demonstrated once again through a training program organized by it in Baliapal. Organised by Tata Steel Foundation, the two-month long Applique Art training program was launched with focus on empowering women and improving self-employment and livelihood opportunities in the region.

The program was inaugurated by Shri Deb Kumar Dey, Sarpanch of Srirampur, and was
attended by Sushma Dutta, Chaumukh GPLF President and Baliapal BLF secretary, Pramod
Kumar Patra, Lead, Balasore, Tata Steel Foundation (TSF), and other Tata Steel CSR team members.

Through this workshop, the members of SHGs will gain skills in Applique Art that will provide them with additional income opportunities. These trained members will also have the opportunity to train other SHG members in this skill. This program is just one of many planned by SPPL under its livelihood initiatives, with more to come in the future.
