The Union Minister inaugurated Postal Departmental Buildings

Malkangiri , 22-04-2022: Four new Postal Departmental buildings have been inaugurated in various parts of Odisha today. It was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, Communication , Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw through video conferencing. The new buildings will include Malkangiri.


Mukhya Dak Ghar, Salapada Sub Post Office in Keonjhar District, Manamunda Sub Post
Office in Boudh District and Gopalpur Sub Post Office in Balasore District. Previously,
these post offices were functioning in rented buildings. Under the Central Government
short and long term schemes, Departmental buildings are being built for Post Offices and
made available to the public.

These modern Post Offices are now committed to provide all kinds of qualitative postal services to the public. By ensuring the completion of construction of Malkangiri Post Office, the Hon’ble Minister has fulfilled his promise as made earlier during his last visit to Odisha. By inaugurating four departmental buildings at once through video conferencing, the Hon’ble Minister has created history in Odisha Postal Circle.

On the occasion, Hon’ble Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the various schemes available at Post Office and discussed the developmental work of the Department of Posts. This program was held under the direct supervision of Shri Suvendu Kumar
Swain, Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle. Many top ranking officers of Odisha
Postal Circle attended the event. For information, Sukanya Samriddhi scheme for girl child has become very popular. Department Of Posts opens a window for financial inclusion across all age groups through various small Saving Scheme such as KVP, NSC, RD, TD, MIS, PPF, SCSS and SB. In addition, Postal Life Insurance and Rural
Postal Life Insurance are some of the very good services provided by Postal Department.
With the functioning of Common Service Center at post offices, the general public is
availing the service of depositing various utility bills, booking of train tickets, payment of
insurance premium and many more.
