TPCODL crossed 50,000 Rooftop Solar Installations Under PM Surya Ghar Scheme
Bhubaneswar: TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) has achieved a significant milestone in Odisha’s clean energy journey by becoming the first power distribution company in the state to facilitate over 50,000 Rooftop Solar (RTS) installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The achievement reflects the growing adoption of rooftop solar across its license area and reinforces TPCODL’s commitment to promoting Distributed Renewable Energy.
Khordha and Cuttack Districts have emerged as the leading contributors in achieving this milestone. Khordha has recorded 13,358 rooftop solar installations, while Cuttack has 12,165 installations, together accounting for a significant share of TPCODL’s overall rooftop solar progress.
The milestone has been driven by TPCODL’s sustained consumer awareness initiatives, including the ‘Mo Chhata, Mo Sanchaya’ campaign, Surya Ghar Gram Sabhas and the ongoing Solar Rath campaign across various districts, creating widespread awareness about rooftop solar and encouraging greater participation in the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. As part of the Solar Rath campaign, ‘Solar Sanga’ is educating consumers about the benefits of rooftop solar, available financial support from Central and State Governments, eligibility criteria, the application process and solar installation process for 1 kW RTS under ULA Model and the 3 kW RTS System, helping them choose the option best suited to their energy needs. Apart from these initiatives, TPCODL is implementing several other awareness and outreach campaigns to encourage more consumers to opt for rooftop solar systems.
Speaking on the achievement, Gajanan S. Kale, CEO, TPCODL, said, “Crossing the milestone of over 50,000 rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a proud achievement for TPCODL and Odisha’s clean energy mission. It reflects the trust of our consumers and the collective efforts of our employees, Business Associates and State Government Administration and all other stakeholders. We remain committed to accelerating rooftop solar adoption and supporting Odisha’s vision of a greener and energy-secure future.”
With continued consumer engagement, streamlined implementation and strong support from the Government of Odisha and the Government of India, TPCODL is playing a key role in accelerating Odisha’s transition towards clean and sustainable energy.
