TPCODL gears up to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Kalinga stadium during FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup in Odisha

~ Multiple sources identified to ensure uninterrupted power supply

~ Electrical safety measures and proactive maintenance work taken up

~ Dedicated quick response team for any electrical eventuality

Bhubaneswar, 10th December 2022: TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited, a joint venture between India’s largest integrated power company Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, is honoured to contribute its bit by providing the required power infrastructure for the international level sporting events in the state. With the prestigious Fédération Internationale de Hockey (FIH) Men’s Hockey World Cup set to revisit Odisha, TPCODL is working proactively and relentlessly to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply by building the required power network to well lit the Kalinga Stadium at Bhubaneswar during the day and night matches to be played during the global event. 

“It is a moment of glory for Odisha. At TPCODL, we are prepared to provide reliable and uninterrupted power supply during the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 and make the State Proud. Proactively we have taken all possible measures to ensure smooth power supply during the event,” said Mr. M. Shenbagam, CEO, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited.

TPCODL had begun preparations for this event much earlier in a planned manner to feed power to the stadium from multiple sources with one dedicated source and two alternatives including one dedicated underground cable source laid down in a short span of time. The Discom has completed maintenance work of all these feeders proactively and ensured that adequate stock of essential spare parts, tools and equipment to minimize the restoration time, if any required.

Apart from the lighting the stadium, TPCODL has undertaken special measures to ensure no interruption in different fun areas meant for the audience inside the stadium including the Fan Zone, Food Zone and Road Arch lights etc. Dedicated mobile transformers have been set up for the purpose. TPCODL has also set up dedicated teams of executives, engineers and linemen and put them on alert for any electrical eventuality during the game.
