World Environment Day observed at PPA
With the theme #Beat Plastic Pollution World Environment Day 2023 was observed at Paradip Port. Paradip Saksharata Samiti, the social arm of Paradip Port Authority organized plantation drive at Madhuban Colony under the flagship banner of ‘Mission- LiFE’. Chairman of PPA Shri P.L. Haranadh along with Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, Dasgupta and volunteers of PSS planted saplings to increase green cover in the Port Township. Later Shri Haranadh and Shri Dasgupta participated in another plantation programme conducted in the Sewerage Treatment Plant II of the Port. Shri H.S. Rout, Chief Engineer, PPA along with his team conducted the programme. Chairman, PPA, Shri Haranadh outlined the importance of planting trees as these are the life line for survival on Earth.
In the morning, an awareness cycle rally was flagged off by Shri D N Sondhi, FA & CAO and Capt. A.C. Sahoo, Dy. Conservator, PPA from Jagannath Temple, which covering the township culminated at Gopabandhu Stadium. It is a reminder that people’s actions on plastic pollution matter. It is time to quicken up this action and transition to a circular economy.
Capt. A.C. Sahoo, Dy. Conservator, PPA later administered World Environment Day pledge to the officers and employees of PPA at Administrative Building. Marine Department led by Capt. Sahoo also cleaned three Ponds at PPA Golf Course.
