KIMS observes National Nutrition Month
Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: With an aim to spread awareness on nutritious food and taking balanced diet, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) observed the conclusion of National Nutrition Month, 2022.
The Department of Dietetics of KIMS organised a programme on the eve of the concluding day, in which cake cutting, cultural programmes, nutritious recipe competition among staff members and nutrition awareness quiz were held.
Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier Prof (Dr) Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Principal KIMS, advised the dieticians’ team of KIMS to create awareness among common public, patients and their kin on healthy, nutritious food and how to prepare them in sanitized environment.
The National Nutrition Month, 2022 which was observed during the month of September was having a theme “Celebrate a world of flavours’’ which in a way, tried to encourage citizens to adopt a healthy lifestyle while enjoying the various flavours of food.
The Department of Dietetics of KIMS also organised an exhibition of balanced and nutritious diet and prizes were distributed among the winners of the group dance and quiz competitions.
At the event Prof. (Dr) Ramachandra Das Medical Superintendent, Prof (Dr) Kabikanta Samantaray (Additional Medical Superintendent), Dr. Ashwini Sharma (Deputy Medical Superintendent), Susamma Sahu Nursing Superintendent and Dieticians’ Team comprising Santoshirani Sahoo, Sanghamitra Nayak, Sushree Tapaswini Das, Monalisa Rout, Kumari Sonam Singh and Swettalina Das of KIMS were present.
“Due the busy schedule in everyday life almost every individual is living a life under stress. For destressing one need to take good care of self, balanced and nutritious diet including adequate liquid intake,’’ said a nutritionist of KIMS.
