BJP Names Actor Sritam Das As Its CMC Mayor Candidate
Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today named Ollywood actor Sritam Das as its candidate for the post of Mayor of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), ahead of the Urban Polls in Odisha.
Das had joined the saffron party in February 2014, before the General Elections. He has been a part of BJP’s star campaigners team during several polls in the state.
Expressing happiness, Das said, “I have been given a new responsibility. The party has posed faith in me and I will try my best to deliver.”
Firstly, I am a resident of Cuttack and the issues concerning the city are also mine. If elected as CMC Mayor, I will resolve the problems like drainage, JICA project, mosquitoes, potholes, healthcare service on priority basis,” he said.
The Congress had earlier announced the name of Giribala Behera, vice-president of Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress, as its candidate for the top post of CMC.
The BJD had yesterday named Rajya Sabha MP Subash Chandra Singh as party’s nominee for the CMC Mayor post.
